Hua Pagoda

Hua Pagoda in Guanghui Monastery in the south of the county town, there is a distinctively shaped and beautifully sculptured ancient pagoda which lies near the town wall, Though it is not so imposing and gigantic as Lingxiao Pagoda, its shape breaks with convention. Looking from a long distance, it somewhat resembles a large bouquet. This is the cultural relic under the state protection-the Hua Pagoda, which belongs to Guanghui Monastery.

Hua Pagoda, with a magnificent appearance, has a rare style. Now, only ten-odd such kind of pagodas exists in China, yet its unique layout is beyond compare among them. It is about 40 meters high and has four storied. Around it there used to be four small pagodas. Both the central pagoda and the four small ones had been set beautifully. However, with the Passage of time, the small pagodas have fallen into ruin. Now only the big pagoda stands there, greeting friends from China and abroad. Under the eaves of every story, a series of brick brackets imitating the wooden ones are decorated. Its lower three stories are octagonal with doors open on four main sides. On the second and third stories, there are some false windows and niches for Buddha on four oblique sides. The fourth story is the cream of the pagoda. 1t is slightly circular and forms a cone together with the tip of the pagoda. Some aquatic animals, lions, elephants, giants and Buddha are colorfully sculptured around the body of the pagoda.

Entering the pagoda a through the arched door of the first story, you can get to the third story along the stairs. Apart from its beautiful-looking appearance, the Pagoda also provide people with a stand on which you can look far into the distance. There are some words on the wall of the pagoda, showing people's climbing in the past. In the 15th and 26th year of Emperor, Qianlong's reign of the Qing Dynasty, Emperor QianLong came here twice for sightseeing and composed some poems with joyful mood.

According to records, Hua Pagoda was built in the Tang Dynasty. The pagoda existing now is a remainder of an overall repair during the Jin Dynasty. In order to preserve this Precious cultural relic, the related departments have decided to give it a thorough renovation. We believe that this gorgeous art flower will give out fragrance in the near future.
