Ge Garden
Built in the Qing dynasty by a salt merchant called Huang Yintai, the Ge yuan is a graceful garden most famous for its bamboo groves. The name of the garden also has an affiliation with bamboo for in Chinese character, Zhu (for bamboo) is a combination of two "ge" characters, and the shape of a bamboo tree resembles the Chinese character of "ge". The whole garden consists of four parts, named Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. The distinctive characteristics of each season are depicted through different rock and water compositions aswell as different plants, especially bamboo. There are often old people singing Beijing Opera in the garden.
