Goddess Peak

Goddess Peak stands on the northern bank of Wuxia Gorge and is said by locals to resemble a graceful lady, standing with her head amongst the clouds. Of the 12 peaks on Shennu Mountain, this is the to be affected by the sun rising and setting. This spot has long been the source of inspiration for numerous painters and poets. In Songyu's "Goddess Story", this was the spot where Chuxiang King had a date with the Goddess.

According to ancient Chinese legend, Goddess Peak is a symbol of Yaoji--the little daughter of the Western Empress who helped to harness the river during the Xia dynasty.
