Day 02
Arriving Beijing
Arrive in Beijing - the capital of China. China Holidays tour guide greets you at the airport and
transfer you to your hotel.
Day 03
Beijing - Urumqi (B, L, D)
Leave Beijing for Urumqi in the morning, upon arrival sightseeing the Lake of Heaven, which is at
an elevation of 6435 feet above sea level. It is a beautiful highland lake, flanked by rugged pines and
cypresses, and with clear waters that reflect the surrounding mountains. In winter, it provides an
ideal alpine skating rink. Afterwards visit the Hill of Heaven Grassland. A roast lamb dinner banquet
will be served in the evening.
Day 04
Urumqi - Turpan (B, L, D)
After breakfast, take motor coach to Turpan, a Uighur town set in a large oasis surrounded by desert
and dry mountains. Upon arrival visit the mysterious Gaochang Ruins, which reveals traces of a
prosperous ancient trading center and military stronghold. You will have an opportunity to sightsee
the Flaming Mountains and Baizeklik Thousand Buddha Caves. Enjoy the Minority Singing and
Dancing Show in the evening.
Day 05
Turpan - Urumqi (B, L, D)
Turpan is famous throughout China for its big and sweet grapes, visit the Grape Valley and Karez
Underground Irrigation Channels. Motor coach back to Urumqi in the evening.
Day 06
Urumqi - Dunhuang (Dunhuang) (B, L, D)
Fly to Dunhuang in the morning. During the Han and Tang dynasties, Dunhuang was a major point
of interchange between China and the outside world, a stopping-off post for both incoming and
outgoing trading caravans. Upon arrival sightseeing the Singing Sand Mountains, Crescent Moon
Lake.
Day 07
Dunhuang (B, L, D)
Visit the Mogao Caves-the World Art Treasure House. It is the world's most important sites of
ancient Buddhist culture. The grottoes, also known as Caves of the Thousand Buddha, preserve
nearly a thousand years of Buddhist cave-temple architecture, clay sculpture, mural paintings, and
manuscripts, dating from the 5th to the 14th centuries. The Mogao Grottoes are carved into desert
cliffs overlooking a river valley about 25km southwest of Dunhuang. The caves vary enormously in
size, from tiny single-room cells that served as living quarters for individual monks to huge,
cavernous worship halls housing monumental sculptures and mural cycles. Enjoy the local cuisine
dinner and the singing and dancing show.
Day 08
Dunhuang - Lanzhou (B, L, D)
Fly to Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu Province in the morning. Tour to the Zhongshan Iron
Bridge, the first bridge on the Yellow River. Enjoy the well-known local hand made beef noodle.
Day 09
Lanzhou - Yinchuan (B, L, D)
After breakfast take boat to Yongjing County to visit the Bingling Grottoes. Bingling is a Tibetan
term meaning ten thousand Buddha. Now about 183 caves with 694 stone sculptures, 82 clay figures
and 900 square meters of murals have been preserved. The statues are all with different postures and
facial expressions. Take soft-sleeper overnight train to Yinchuan after dinner.
Day 10
Yinchuan (B, L, D)
Arrive in Yinchuan-a place featured with the ancient Yellow River Culture, distinctive Islam Culture,
unique Western Xia Culture, and frontier fortress culture in the morning. Upon arrival visit the
Western Xia Tombs. The tombs were originally created by the founder of the Western Xia Kingdom
at around 1000 years ago. Now there are 9 main tombs and 140 annex tombs left, containing various
important personages, relatives, concubines or empty spaces. Sightsee the Shahu Lake and the
Helan Mountain Sculptures.
Day 11
Yinchuan - Baotou (B, L, D)
Take train to Baotou in the morning, visit Genghis Khan's Mausoleum, the biggest attraction in this
part of Inner Mongolia. The Mausoleum attracts thousands of visitors every month, and has been
elevated to the status of a holy site.
Day 12
Baotou (B, L, D)
Visit the Kubuqi Desert and the Resonant Sand Gorge, it is more a place of natural beauty than of
historical importance. It receives its name from the echoing Shhhh that the sand makes as you step
on its surface. Visitors here can try camel rides, can parasail, can slide the dunes or simply build sand
castles.
Day 13
Baotou - Xilamuren (B, L, D)
Motor coach to Xilamuren Grassland in the morning, you may try activities such as Mongolian
wrestling, horse & camel riding, rodeo competitions, archery, visiting Mongolian traditional tent
(yurt), and trips to the aobaos (rock mounds that are normally festooned with flags, meant for
worship). In the evening the camps provide interesting, including performances of traditional
dancing, singing and melodies from traditional Mongolian instruments.
Day 14
Xilamuren - Huhhot - Beijing (B, L, D)
Take coach to Huhhot, visit The Tomb of Wang Zhaojun, one of the four beauties in Chinese history,
and Five Pagoda Temple, which is a miniature temple built in Indian style, so named for the five
four-sided pagodas that jut up from the rectangular base of the building. Fly back to Beijing late
afternoon, enjoy the famous Peking Duck dinner and Acrobatic Show.
Day 15
Beijing - U.S.A./Canada (B)
Tour guide will transfer you to the airport and home your sweet home.
