Zhongmu
Watermelon - Zhengzhou is a major area producing watermelon in
China, with a high yield and superior varieties. The watermelon sells
well across the country. Especially, Zhengzhou No. 3 used to gain
an international reputation for its crisp and refreshing pulp, rich
juice, sweet flavor, less fiber and high sugar content. In 1991, the
fine varieties of Zhengzhou 8902, Zhengzhou 8901 and Zhengzhou 8903
bred by the Zhengzhou Fruit Tree Research Institute respectively won
the first, second and third prizes in the first national meeting for
watermelon assessment. |

Zhengzhou
Cherry - Mainly produced in the Cherry Valley in the suburb Houzhai
Township of Zhengzhou City, the cherry ripens early with high yield.
It is also tasty and refreshing, looks shiny, pure and pleasing to
both the eye and the mind. The trees blossom in mid March, and the
fruit gets ripe in early May. The cherry is very nutritious for containing
protein, fat, sugar, calcium, phosphorus, iron and many kinds of vitamin;
the content of iron is the highest: 5.9mg in every 100g of pulp, more
than 20 times that of apple and pear, and the content of Vitamin A
is 5 times than that of grapes. |
