(Heavenly Heart) Scenic Area |

In
the Tianxin Scenic Area one can see these caves called
Tianchejia, where Qing-dynasty gentry hid from the Taiping
Army.
|
Located on the northern side of Wuyi Mountain,
this area spreads over 450 hectares and is dotted with scenic
attractions such as Zhangtang Gully, Eagle Beak Rock, Heavenly
Towers, Yuzhu (Jade Pillar) Peak, Flowing Fragrance Gully, Sanhua
(Three Flower) Peak, Duxia Rock, the Red Robe Tea Trees, Horse
Head Rock and Yongle Temple.
Tianchejia (Heavenly Towers) About a quarter kilometre
west of Zhangtang Gully are several caves and rooms built halfway
up the mountain. During the reign of Emperor Xianfeng (1851
-1861), local gentry had these structures built to escape from
the Taiping Army who were revolting against the Qing court.
For this reason, they are quite hard to reach. However, if one
goes to the mountaintop from the side of Danxiazhang Peak, and
then is bold enough to come downhill through the woods, he will
find himself in one of the Heavenly Towers.

Yingzui (Eagle Beak) Rock About 100 metres
west of the Heavenly Towers is an enormous barren rock resembling
an eagle. Its eastern end protrudes like a beak, and when looked
at from the path along Zhangtang Gully the rock does indeed
resemble an eagle ready to take wing.
Liuxiang (Flowing Fragrance) Gully To the north of Tianxin
Rock, this gully is flanked by red cliffs and grey rocks. A
turn at its northern end takes one to an ideal summer retreat
area, called Qingliang (Cool and Refreshing) Valley. Soon out
of this valley, one will see Feilai Peak, behind which is Yuzhu
Peak.
