From
Sanyang Peak, the highest point on Wuyi Mountain, one
has the best view of the beautiful sea of clouds.
|
Covering an area of 550 hectares, this area
includes. such scenic sights as the Peach Garden Cave, Drum
Tower Rock, Golden Brick Pool, Kaiyuan Hall, Green Cloud Cave,
Stony Pearl Rock, North Corridor Rock, Sanceng {Three
Tier} Peak and Sanyang Peak.
Taoyuan (Peach garden) Cave To reach this cave, walk
upriver from the north of the Sixth Bend to Squirrel Cave. After
about half a kilometre, the path seems to reach an end, but
closer up one can see a small entrance, large enough for only
one person to pass through at a time, which leads to another
small cave. After exiting the cave, one is met with a stone
gate which stands in front of Peach Garden Cave. Inside this
cave, it is very spacious and here one can see such sites as
Kaiyuan Hall, Longevity Peach Stone, Golden Brick Pool, Peach
Garden and Bamboo Grove. |

A
distant view of Yinping Peak reveals a tiny Taoist temple
called Fox Cave inlaid in the cliffs.
|
Sanyang (Three Rise) Peak At 717.7
metres above sea level, this is the highest peak in the Wuyi
Mountain Scenic Area. Looking into the distance from Sanyang
Peak, one has a view which encompasses all the graceful mountain
peaks of Wuyi Mountain. In the past, the common route up the
peak was to set out from Huiyuan Pit on the northern side of
the slope, turn west at Zhangtang Gully and spiral one's way
up to the summit. Now a stone path has been chiselled out between
Little Peach Garden and the summit, making the climb much easier. |
|
| Sanceng (Three Tier) Peak South of Sanyang
Peak, this peak stands opposite Little Peach Garden and actually
consists of three summits. They are called "Wuyi's Weather Forecasting
Station" because before it rains, clouds and fog gather around
the three peaks and when it turns fine, they disperse immediately. |
