Xingping
Town, located on the east bank of Li River, 63km from Guilin and 27km
from Yangshuo, is the largest town along the Li River in the ancient times
as well as one of the four most famous ancient towns in Guangxi province.
In the Northern and Southern dynasties (420-589),
here used to be the seat of Xiping county. In 590, Xiping county move
to Yangshuo and renamed Yangshuo county. The present Xingping is under
the domination of Yangshuo county.
Xingping town, leaning against mountains
and laying aboard river, is well known for its lucid water, grotesque
peaks, steep cliffs and fantastic landscape. Li River passes through the
town with a length of 20km, in which Mural Hill, Snail Hill, Lotus Crag,
Fishing Village, etc are the most attractive spots in whole Li River cruise.
