Sailing
south from Xingping Town, one arrives at Snail Hill which is situated
on the west bank of Li River, 64km form Guilin.
With a relative height of 31.8m, this hill
is 356.8m above sea level. A huge vein spirals up from the bottom to the
top, making the hill looking like a huge snail. At the bottom of the hill
lies a cave, which is 400m in width and depth. The cave consists of two
smaller caves, namely, east cave and west cave. Inside the cave there
are three snail stones, which respectively is snow-white, dark green and
pitch-black in color. A nunnery built in the Ming dynasty stands nearby.
