Located
on the west bank of the Xiaodongjiang River in the southeast of Guilin,
this hill is topped with a seven-story brick pagoda, which was named Longevity
Buddha Pagoda (Shoufo Ta). Built in the Ming dynasty, this hexagonal pagoda
is fourteen meters high and three meters in diameter on the lowest floor.
On the second floor, A row of longevity Buddhas carved out of stone are
displayed. Their tops made in the shape of alms bowls covered with a gourd
crown. Now, this pagoda, as well as the Pagoda Hill is one of the scenes
in Chuanshan Park.
