 Located
in the east of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Turpan City
is a basin among mountains. Dry and hot in summer, the basin is
known as the "fire land". Turpan teems with melons and
fruit, and is especially famous for its seedless grapes. Its raisins
are sold to all parts of China and the world. July and August are
the best period for paying a visit to Turpan.
