| Located in the southwestern end of Xuanwu District,
it ws the suburbs of the capital in the Liao Dynasty. In the Yuan Dynasty,
the Benevolence Nunnery was built here; and in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,
kilns were set up there. In 1695, the Taoran Pavilion was constructed.
During the period of democratic revolution, some revolutionaries, such
as Li dazhao, Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai, took it as a revolutionary
center. Two revolutionaries, Gao Junyu and his girl friend, Shi Ping,
were buried here. The park includes some scenic spots, such as the Benevolence
Nunnery, Cloud Painting Tower and Qingyin Pavilion.
