Local Calls Within the City

Prepay-sets on the streets can only be used to make phone calls within the city. You need only to put in a 50-cent coin to make a phone call. Public telephones can be found everywhere in the city, such as the railway station, commercial areas and living quarters.

Postal Offices

A letter to be sent to a place within the city should be stamped with 60-cent postage before it is thrown into the mail box; a letter to be sent to a place out of the city should be stamped 80-cent postage; an air-mail letter to be sent abroad requires 5.4 yuan postage at least, and one to be sent to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan needs 2.5 yuan postage at least.

International Post Office

Located in Yabao Road, North Jianguomen Street, the International Post Offices handles both domestic and international mail, parcel post and express mail, money orders, telegram remittances, domestic and international telegrams, long-distance and local call.

Express Mail Service

Forty-five post offices and the express mail counter at hotels in Beijing provide express mail service. You may ask express mail personnel to get your mail from your house.
