Mt. Huangshan

Located in the city of Huangshan, Mt. Huangshan covers an
area of 1,200 square kilometers. The major scenic area occupies 154 square kilometers in area.
Also known as Mt. Yishan, it was where Emperor Xuanyuan prepared herbal medicine several
thousand years ago. In 747, the sixth year of Emperor
Tianbao of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the mountain
was renamed Huangshan. Mt. Huangshan is celebrated for having all the wonders of mountain
scenery: spectacular rocky peaks, oddlyshaped pines, crystal-clear springs, and seas of cloud.
Huangshan City has convenient transportation and perfect tourist facilities. It has many
well-equipped hotels, and has established three cable ways in Mt. Huangshan. It is the best choice
for holiday making. In 1985, the mountain was made one of China's Top Ten Scenic Spots. In 1990,
it was listed as World Cultural and Natural Heritage by UNESCO. |
