Lying in the eastern part of the Xinjiang
Uygur Autonomous Region, Turpan is actually a basin surrounded
by mountains. The world famous Aydingkol Lake is located
at the center of the basin and its surface is 154 meters
below sea level. The basin is extremely hot and dry in summer,
earning the title "Flaming Land". It is home to
the famous Flaming Mountains and the Valley of Vineyards,
which produces seedless raisins. The eating habits hare
are almost the same as among the Uygur people.
