As the capital city of Shandong Province,
Jinan is among the first group of top tourist cities
in China. Shandong is the birthplace of Shandong Cuisine.
Naturally, Jinan teems with restaurants. There are nearly
60 high and medium-grade restaurants and 30 outlets
designated for tourists. The representative dishes of
Shandong Cuisine are Stewed Scallion and Sea Cucumber,
Sweet and Sour Carp and Stir-Fried Prawn. Jinan dishes
belong to typical Shandong Cuisine, famous for its frying
techniques and overall excellence in color, smell, taste
and shape. Soup dishes like Tremella Soup are especially
notable.
The local snacks in Jinan are exquisitely made and
occupy a special place in the gourmet field. The most
famous ones are Sliced-Twist Cake, Spiral Cake and the
Delicious Garnished porridge.
